Wings for Life World Run 2022: Teleflex ran for those who can´t

The Wings for Life World Run is a global charity run that takes place annually in May. This year’s Wings for Life World Run took place on May 8, 2022. The Wings for Life Run is initiated by the Wings for Life Foundation based in Austria. Its motto is “running for those who can´t”. Each participant pays an entry fee, which is 100% donated for research purposes. Teleflex Urology Care is proud that 20 Teleflex runners from 7 countries all over the world took part and supported the goal of the Foundation to cure paraplegia with their entry fee.

From hobby runners to top athletes, everyone takes part in the Wings for Life World Run with the same goal: to help. All income generated by the participants worldwide (so far over 33 million euros), goes entirely to the spinal cord research carried out by the Wings for Life Foundation. The non-profit foundation was founded in Austria by Heinz Kinigadner, who found a supporter in Dietrich Mateschitz who has been paying for all administrative costs for many years, which means that all income can be used for research work.

Since a large number of Teleflex customers who use intermittent catheters are paraplegic, it was very important to our employees around the world to be part of the event.

The numbers for this year’s World Run are again very impressive. A total of 161,892 people from 192 nations have registered as participants. A distance of 1,231,813 kilometers was covered by all participants and 4,700,000 million euros were collected in participation fees and donations to be used for various spinal cord research projects.

The Teleflex Urology Care Team is proud to have been part of this great event and we are already looking forward to the Wings for Life World Run 2023.
