World Continence Week 2024
World Continence Week is an annual initiative organised jointly by the International Continence Society (ICS) and the World Federation of Incontinence Patients (WFIP). Around the world, national organisations hold events to highlight key issues related to continence and continence care. The 16th World Continence Week took place from 17 to 23 June. An important event for Teleflex Urology Care, which we would like to draw attention to.
What is the background to World Continence Week?
Up to 200 million people around the world suffer from incontinence. Incontinence has a huge impact on people’s lifestyles and daily activities. Despite the fact that so many people suffer from this condition, those affected are afraid to talk about it. This is why the condition needs social attention!
What is the vision of World Continence Week?
A key aim of World Continence Week is to take preventive action, raise awareness, educate and advise people on what they can do and what options are available to improve their situation. The vision of World Continence Week is a world where people living with all forms of pelvic floor dysfunction can enjoy a high quality of life, play an active role in society and have access to appropriate treatment.
What happens during World Continence Week?
National organisations hold a series of events and provide information about the management and treatment of incontinence. A range of tests and treatment options are available, and the condition can also be tackled through prevention and early detection. Particularly for those affected, many of whom suffer considerably as a result of their condition, finding out about specific treatment options is the first step towards improving their quality of life.
