The Wheelchair Skills Day is coming to Berlin!
The Wheelchair Skills Day is continuing its success story in Germany and is now celebrating its third anniversary. Under the motto “Rollis Rocken Berlin,” DRS Rollikids, the German Wheelchair Sports Association, and the WCMX department cordially invite wheelchair users of all ages, along with their families and friends, to Berlin. Teleflex Urology Care has been a partner of the DRS children’s and youth sports department for many years and is looking forward to an exciting event again this year.
The idea of the Wheelchair Skills Day (WCSD), which was first organised by K-J van der Klooster and his team in the Netherlands in 2016, has also inspired many Rollikids in Germany. After its successful premieres in Cologne and the following year in Stuttgart, the Wheelchair Skills Day is coming to Berlin on 21.10.2023!
At full throttle, it’s back over the obstacles, the small edges and the high steps, around the corner, up the incline, down the stairs and up onto the podium.
The great thing about this event is that it is organised under the auspices of the Children and Youth Sports Department of the DRS (German Wheelchair Sports Association). Here, everyone has the opportunity to showcase their wheelchair skills, regardless of whether they are a pro or just a beginner. The XXL wheelchair course offers a variety of obstacles at different levels of difficulty. This means that everyone can choose the route that best suits their ability. Who will opt for the safe route and who is up for a challenge?
During the event, everyone can work intensively on their driving techniques and their own wheelchair handling. Experts such as David Lebuser and the Rollikids trainer team will be on hand to provide support. The highlight and also the conclusion of the day is the “run”, where courses have to be mastered as quickly as possible.
The course will be set up at the impressive Skatehalle Berlin. Here, not only can you experience thrilling wheelchair manoeuvres, but you can also enjoy food, drinks and great music. The event promises exciting activities in a friendly atmosphere. In addition to the course, there will also be the opportunity to enjoy a game of table football and find out information about wheelchair sports in Berlin as part of the programme.
Wheelchair users of all ages are invited to participate alongside their families and friends. Regardless of your degree of impairment or level of experience in using a wheelchair, the event is suitable for all skill levels. Participation in an electric wheelchair is also possible.
Teleflex Urology Care will once again be on site with a stand, and we hope you have lots of fun taking part!
