Teleflex Urology Care UK sponsored another successful Water Ski event
In September, after a long wait, Teleflex Urology Care was the proud sponsor of the charity Access Adventures. Access Adventures is a registered charity delivering life-changing adaptive sports & activities. The events are designed to challenge expectations and build self-confidence for people with disabilities. The Teleflex Urology Care UK team attended the Water Ski event at Heron Lake, Staines, as part of the partnership.
On Fri 2nd Sept, participants met at Heron Lake in Staines for the first night of the event. Accommodation is provided for all participants and companions, with accessible facilities for all requirements. Heron Lake is in the middle of the M25. From the scenic, tranquil, beautiful surroundings it is hard to believe you are in the middle of one of the UK’s busiest motorways. The first night is spent preparing equipment and sitting round the campfire getting to know one another.
Sat 3rd Sept, day 1 for Water-skiing. Each participant’s name is added to the white board where equipment and requirements are noted to ensure a smooth running of the event. Dependant on the ability of the participant, there is the option to go on your own or with two people supporting. It is amazing to see someone go from support to being able to Water Ski on their own, on the first day! All volunteers at the event ensure all participants have what they need whether it be drinks, snacks or lunch.
Day 1 is the hardest day as it is the day where everyone is in and out of the water. There is the added option to paddle board while waiting your turn so at any given time, there is plenty of opportunity to try other activities. Thankfully the weather was lovely apart from the one downpour that was very short lived. By the end of day one everyone is happy and exhausted so it’s an ideal time to have a BBQ and a few drinks around the campfire.
Sun 4th Sept, is day 2 where everyone has the option to Water Ski or alternatively there is the option to relax and be part of the day by jumping in the speedboat or just sitting having a coffee in the sun.
Teleflex Urology Care also presented Liquick X-treme and Liquick X-treme Plus to participants who were interested in trialling our new products. The UK Urology Care team were available to support any participant with their needs. The end of day 2 is the end of the event where participants are heading home with a huge smile on their face and with all intentions of returning to the next event!
Teleflex Urology Care would like to thank all participants of this year’s Water Ski event. A big shout out to the Access Adventures Team and to Tim Farr, Clare Williams, Jane Sowerby for letting Teleflex be part of this amazing day. And last but by no means least, to the amazing volunteers who give up their free time to be part of these amazing few days.
