Read on to learn more.
UK monoski event in Italy (6 – 9 February 2023)
In February, after a long wait, Teleflex Urology Care partnered with Bullen Healthcare to sponsor the latest UK Freerider Ski Event. The aim of the Freerider Team is to challenge expectations and continue developing teaching techniques to improve and simplify the skiing experience for people with disabilities. The Teleflex Urology UK team attended the skiing event in Folgaria, Italy, as part of the partnership.
On the final night before flying back to the UK, Teleflex Urology Care presented Liquick X-treme and Liquick X-treme Plus to participants who were interested in testing out our new products. The UK Urology team were on hand to assist the participants as needed.
7th International monoski event in Folgaria (10 – 12 February 2023)
The slopes of Italy were also home to the most anticipated international monoski event of the year. For the 7th consecutive year, an event open to all wheelchair users from across Europe was organized in the beautiful location of Alpe Cimbra in Trentino.
In between runs, this year’s participants witnessed an unpleasant event that fortunately was resolved in the best way possible. During the event, a participant felt ill and fainted, but thanks to the alertness of the policeman helping him and the timely intervention of the rescue team, it all turned out okay. It was a bit of a scare, but the next day our friend was back on the slopes. All this was possible thanks to the presence of competent and attentive personnel, who were able to cope with every problem.
(Mono) ski course in Ladurns, South Tyrol (19 – 25 February 2023)
After a two-year break, Y.E.S. Sportmarketing GmbH once again hosted this very special event for the whole family in February. A total of 11 families and 4 ski instructors made their way to Ladurns to learn (mono) skiing or improve own skills.
The ski area of St. Anton is surrounded by the impressive mountain world of the Dolomites. The slopes in the immediate vicinity offer optimal conditions for both beginners and advanced skiers. Plus, the week was packed with a wide variety of activities. In addition to skiing, there was plenty of playing, partying and socializing. At the final race with award ceremony, all the children had another chance to show off their skills. Even though some of the snow was not the best, everyone was able to soak up the sun and enjoy fantastic weather on most days.
The final events of the current “Freerider Ski Tour” will take place from 24 – 26 March in Canazei and from 31 March – 2 April in Madonna di Campiglio. Groups of wheelchair users will once again explore the ski slopes on their monoskis under the guidance of the Freerider Team and are bound to have plenty of fun.
