Information about spina bifida and hydrocephalus in the ASBH podcast

Spina bifida, hydrocephalus? Terms that most people know little about. Perhaps the most informed are couples who have dealt with the topics of wanting children and pregnancy. Spina bifida and hydrocephalus are congenital, rare malformations in children. Sometimes they also occur in adults, e.g. in the form of age-related cerebral palsy or because they were not properly identified at birth. Both malformations are incurable; there is a lifelong impairment.

Every two months, the ASBH podcast will focus on life with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. This includes conversations about everyday life, discussions about options and challenges in dealing with these rare deformities, for example in education or at work. Other times it will involve discussions with doctors about medical procedures and therapies.

In the first episode of the ASBH podcast, Jürgen Wolters talks to host Frank Oberpichler about the two congenital malformations and the tasks of the association ASBH of supporting affected people and their families. What is the ASBH, what goals does it pursue and what can it do for people affected by these conditions? What role does self-help play in this? Why did ASBH start the podcast and who is it for?

The podcast can be played on the website https://asbh.de/podcast/ or subscribed to on Spotify, Deezer, Apple Podcast, and Google Podcast.
